Common Parts of Automobiles
An automobile is a vehicle that has four wheels. Most definitions state that it runs on the road and seats one to eight people. It is used primarily for transporting people. Listed below are some common parts of an automobile. They are easy to replace and are essential to the operation of any car. Let’s start with the most common parts.
Alternator
An alternator for an automobile works by creating electricity. It consists of a rotor and a stator. The rotor spins and produces electricity through the movement of a pair of magnets. The current that is produced by the alternator is delivered to the rest of the vehicle through a voltage regulator.
An automobile alternator is usually located on the front of the engine. It is connected to the crankshaft through an accessory drive belt. This belt turns the rotating parts inside the alternator to produce electricity, which charges the battery. Some vehicles use serpentine belts, which can wear out faster. If the alternator belt is worn out, it can cause a warning light to illuminate on the dashboard and the vehicle may not start.
