What is Entertaiment?

Article

Entertainment is any activity or event that affords pleasure, diversion or amusement. Entertainment can take the form of watching movies, attending concerts, playing games, reading, social activities or even visiting museums. It can also be a form of therapy, providing an escape from reality or simply providing enjoyment and relaxation. It has a long history and can be found in many cultures around the world.

The word entertaiment derives from the Latin intertenere, from the prefix inter meaning “inside” and the suffix tenere meaning to hold inside. It is an apt name, since entertainment often hits on the points that the brain was evolved to react deeply to, such as backstabbing and murders in a social world it was designed to understand. Entertaiment stimulates the brain to realease seratonin and dopamine.
